Two things.

One: If you use BRMS it has a group called QLNKOMT. This is for storing where you want the list of directories to omit. If you want them omitted you run the STRBKUBRM with OMITS(*PROCESS). If you do not want them omitted you run the backup with OMITS(*IGNORE)

Two: Works for base OS saves, and for BRMS.
See the command
CHGATR OBJ('/MYDIR') ATR(*ALWSAV) VALUE(*NO)
Starting about 7.2 IBM started flagging a bunch of directories with this attribute. They will not get saved, regardless of what command you run. Normally these are log files and that genre.
No code modification needed. Unless you want to write something to turn this off/on before a save.

Subject: Files at end of full save OK?

I'm looking at speeding up my full saves by splitting off some large IFS directories. I found the commands for GO SAVE 21 (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_73/rzarm/rzaiurzaiu267.htm). I'm planning on making my own CL and have the IFS save omit the particular directories. After the STRSBS, I'll save those directories to the same tape. That should work, right?

TIA
