Well if you wrote your own save on the AS/400 it won't work the same on IBM i. Too much has changed.
For example, you really should end tcp before trying the ENDSBS *ALL. TCP will still keep going even after you get the message that the system has ended to restricted state. That, and really bad things can happen. Bad things. But if you don't mind losing 5250 access, even after you start back up, it's not such a big deal.

That is correct, I still want to save these directories. I'd just like to reduce the time in a restricted state. I don't have BRMS and I have a single physical LTO7 drive to work with. Putting these directories at the end of the tape seems simple enough. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some voodoo about GO SAVE 21 that I was missing.
Thanks

Rereading this.
I think what you are trying to say is that you plan on saving the same number of directories. Some during the restricted save. Some others after you bring the system out of restricted state.
You could write your own program or you could still follow my previous email and do the OMITS(*IGNORE) after system comes up.
I've found that since moving to BRMS and a VTL I couldn't give a rat's posterior about which tape(s) the save is on. BRMS tracks the tapes used. The VTL doesn't waste tape like unused mylar in a cartridge.
