I use worksright to derive the Lat/Lon and dynamically build an HTML doc to bring up google maps. I have the same problem where the miles they calc are as the crow flies. An example is NY. 28 miles straight line vs 112 miles going around water. I am working on the same project to use the distance api for driving distance.

I think this is an outstanding idea. However if you are into alternatives which may not rely upon external services check out http://worksright.com/ They have some stuff which can tell you distance between two locations. I'm not sure if that is "as the crow flies".
Not getting any sweetener from this. Just someone who has used their products in the past.

I am just starting to investigate how to do this and wondered if anyone in the group had already done this using Google Maps or some other site.

The requirement is to process a list of from and to street addresses and calculate the distance by road between the two addresses.

If anyone has already done this and would like to point me in nthe right direction it would be appreciated.
