On the other hand, has there yet been a virus in the wild for this
platform?
Shortly after I posted my reply, I saw how it could be misinterpreted as
being derogatory against IBM i. I should take responsibility for that, and
clarify that I view IBM i as superior to all other server platforms, with
respect to hosting database applications.
However our legacy applications that are based on 5250 interfaces are
horribly outdated. Our legacy application architecture should change
fundamentally. With respect to interactive I/O, our paradigm should shift
from record write - record read, to "services" that are designed to process
and respond to "requests" from intelligent clients. Our 5250 interfaces are
only the tip of the iceberg. The application architecture underneath should
be redesigned too.
Sorry for the confusion. My last post was too hurried. At least it
stimulated some conversation ;-)
