The last thing I would try is ssh'ing into your IBM i instead of QP2TERM
and launching the expect script there.

As to what's wrong, I'm tactile. I'd have to sit at the keyboard and fiddle
with it and try things until something sparks my attention.

Sort of like Georges Simenon's fictional Inspector Maigret :)

If you don't have a public key, it will prompt for a password. you can try -o
PasswordAuthentication yes for good luck (or maybe it's just -o
PasswordAuthentication ).
