have used this before when the directory can have hundreds of thousands of files (big shops..)

1) Why are they performing an ls or dir on such a crowded forder? I think it's no easy to find something that way

The ftp server is the ibm i. Clients are windows command line ftp,
FileZilla and others.

I don’t see a timeout setting on the server.

Any other suggestions?
