The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
I am also leaning towards having the LTO user create a virtual tape.
If disk space is unsolvable then he may want to find someone willing to
DUPTAP it to virtual tape and then FTP that to you so you can DUPTAP it to
VTL.
BTW if you do the following before the save:
PRTERRLOG TYPE(*VOLSTAT) VOLTYPE(3590) VOLSTAT(*DLT)
Then do your save
PRTERRLOG TYPE(*VOLSTAT) VOLTYPE(3590)
DSPSPLF FILE(QPCSMPRT) SPLNBR(*LAST)
You'll end up with a report of how much of the tape was used. I use this
technique on all of our quarterly saves.
Don't let the VOLTYPE(3590) freak you out. I used that on our LTO4 media
library and now on our DD2500 VTL.
Back in the physical media days it was a good indicator of when you were
getting close to needing a second tape on your next save.
If you hate automation with tools like BRMS then it can also be a list you
can keep of what tapes were used with that save.
If you just need to roam with the dinosaurs you can look at these
statistics in STRSST and reset them there instead. I think it used to be
the only way to do it.
