I'd change that to "may cause you errors". I don't recommend it, but we've had OMG long share names in Windows since Win2003. I can't connect to them, so the admin has to make duplicate shares with shorter names. I've never had any other issues with this.

Read carefully. Even if you are not using the longer share names simply the existence of them will cause you errors.

We also keep users passwords in sync. If I change my password in Windows it automatically changes the IBM i password to match. Including case.
