Thanks...yeah, the 4 disks...mirroring...the whole BCS thing was a mystery 9 years ago when I got it....my hope is to "clean up" the configuration by reloading everything but first I need a warm feeling that the HW is OK....once I get the disk replaced, then I'll feel better about blowing all the weirdness away and "doing it right" (if there is such a thing....)

You must replace FROM the VIOS otherwise IBM i won't ever notice your
replacement. I'm not sure WHY somebody would configure IBM i thru VIOS with
4 disks mirrored at the IBM i level (and only 2 arms for that...)
