We converted AFPDS to PDF with this command (native at v7r1):

CPYSPLF FILE(MYPRTF) TOFILE(*TOSTMF) SPLNBR(*LAST)
TOSTMF(MYPATH) WSCST(*PDF) STMFOPT(*REPLACE).

There have been clumsier methods available with the base system at much earlier releases.

Using PDF, you can't get back to the original AFPDS spool file on a System I the way the user space and save file methods work, but it is a lot easier to email, store and print with PC applications and printers. Works well with all sorts of special AFPDS keywords: the images, lines, boxes, and special fonts all come through, along with special colors. I did have trouble with background shaded overlays, but that might have been me.

Subject: Re: Send/Duplicate a AFPDS Spool File to another User

Hi Pat,

We use a CL program for that which I found years ago on the RPG list:

Works very well for us.

Best regards,
