Hi Kent,

It is a little unclear to me what you mean by "The Engineer wants a MDB
file that can be read by the production machine.". Are you saying that an
IBM i needs to reach out and fetch data from an Access database?

If you want Access to fetch data from an IBM i, you can make a "linked
table" in Access that points to an IBM i table, via ODBC. For a client
side application, that is able to work with an Access database, you can
refer to the linked table and it will reroute those to DB2 for i data
requests via ODBC (transparently). A linked table in Access used in this
manner acts as a conduit.

If you want to copy a table from the IBM i and create a local copy of the
table in Access, you can do so using the Get External Data / ODBC database
/ Get External Data - ODBC dialog choosing the "Import the source data into
a new table in the current database" default selection (Access 2016
version).

I have a request to create an MS Access Database file from data on the i.
I haven't been able to find any articles on how to do this, so I assume
it's not possible. But, I thought I would go the extra mile and post a
forum question. I know that MS Access can import files and convert them,
but that is not what is requested. The Engineer wants a MDB file that can
be read by the production machine.

We are currently at 7.2.
