Hi Kent

I'm a little confused - is this a request to be able to read IBM i data in MS Access, or for the IBM i to be able to read MS Access data? I hear both in your post.

If it's to be able to read IBM i data with MS Access, then ODBC is probably the usual thing to use - you will need an ODBC drive on the PC that can connect with the IBM i - they are part of the Client Access application or an extra component of ACS (Access Client Solutions).

If it's to be able to read MS Access from the IBM i, then Justin's reply about JDBC is about it. Scott Klement has articles and a service program that can use Java to work with data on remote systems. There is also ArdGate, by Dieter Bender, who is on these lists a lot, as well.

But, I thought I would go the extra mile and post a forum question. I know that MS Access can import files and convert them, but that is not what is requested. The Engineer wants a MDB file that can be read by the production machine.

We are currently at 7.2.
