I'm very familiar with that page. Yes, the printer in question (HP 402) is supported for PJL, SNMP and LPR.

Is this printer on the list of ASCII printers that are supported? For example, Zebra printers were not directly supported, as I recall. Take a look at this page. Bookmark it as well. It have connection details for ASCII printers:
