I've been saying for over 15 years.... (and practicing what I preach)
You can take a plane/limo/bus and have a vendor/package/consultant do all
the work... or you can learn to drive. One costs more and the other gives
you valuable knowledge that will follow you in your career no matter what
platform you may end up on.
These days with jQuery, it's like having a free chauffeur.
No need to split your business logic out of what you're comfortable with
(RPG/COBOL,PHP,Node) and with jQuery and all the addons, information,
documentation, etc out there for presentation (and pretty neat client
functionality) it's silly to not at least learn that along with a little
JS.
