An actual command line you can use with ACS (folders may vary on your computer).
C:\IBM\ACS\Start_Programs\Windows_i386-32\acslaunch_win-32.exe /PLUGIN=rss /SYSTEM=[IBM I system] /DATABASE=[name if you use IASPs] /SQL="Select * from SYSCOLUMS where COLUMNS like '%?%'"
With the newer versions of ACS 5250 you can slam this into STRPCCMD and have it bring up the SQL tool.

In these days with multiple screens and/or large screens, it's not unheard of to have one Run SQL Script session open to SYSCOLUMNS and another to your actual work.

I need to display the fields and column headings in a table and do
not want to always open up iNav to do a table definition inquiry.
I would like to run a command that would prompt up the same window as
iNav does, similar to the generate definition option in iNav.
Is this possible? I may be missing the wood for the trees.
Does the Run SQL script environment suffice for the "same window"
requirement? If so, then perhaps the following example, for showing the
CREATE TABLE script for the physical database *FILE object MY_LIB/MY_FILE:
call qsys2.generate_sql
( 'MY_FILE', 'MY_LIB', 'TABLE' )
