Sure, lots and lots of times.

The source is pretty simple. Really simple. There's nothing
in there which says if someone changes the default on one then
change the default on another.

Ah, so you're saying that CHGCMDDFT actually changes the CMD
object itself. I did not know that. I've worked on AS/400's since about
1992 and all this time I've thought that those command default overrides
were stored somewhere else as the same kind of string value that the
CHGCMDDFT parameter accepts -- thus the reason why previous overrides
could be lost. This is what I was told, at least. I've learned something
today.
