Why not? IBM i can carry a virus, the virus it's just the virus is not
executable in its native form.

An usual reason to use a mail relay is to avoid sending virus. I do not
think it will happen sending directly from the i.

In regard to your assertion that most email generated on IBM i does get

services), how are you so sure about that?

What I do understand is, that is what you offer and promote. What about
those of us who just want to send email directly from our IBM i
applications? People should know that's built-in to the platform - no
internal, nor 3rd party relay is required.
