So, if you were at Dekko you would create a new domain, such as
DekkoIBMi.com, and set up MX records and whatnot which would point back to
your IBM i and bypass your existing email?

In regard to creating a new domain (DekkoIBMi.com), no. However, you might
setup DNS records to sub-domain xx.dekko.com, which routes to your WAN ip
address, where you can then re-route internally to your IBM i server.

If you're hosting your own email service internally for dekko.com using say
Exchange, you can set up your IBM i SMTP server to relay through your
Exchange server.

And then the users would use
an email reader that would read from IBM i? And, why? Versus just
relaying through your existing SMTP setup?

Again, isn't this thread about sending email directly from IBM i? What does
reading from IBM i have to do with it?

In regard to reading vs. relaying, I don't understand the context of the
question.
