So I guess it's time to toss the ball back to OP:
Michael, what exactly are you trying to accomplish with STRPCCMD? Why
do you think you need a long command string? What were you planning to
do if your emulator detection told you that only short strings are
available?
(The first question in particular is aimed at teasing out whether a
completely different approach, not involving STRPCCMD at all, is
possible or preferable.)
