Would seem reasonable to just ask to have the
Edit command publicly authorized similar to the
others.? There is unlikely to be anything valid
offered to support their decision to have
disallowed the one while allowing the others.?
One word answer: Auditors.
To be fair, I've not been here long enough to know the history of how
things came to be. I've known of other shops that have "negotiated" with
auditors, explaining the need to have access to certain things, but I'm not
sure whether they've done any of that here. We also do not have access to
CRTLIB / CPYLIB here. To me, this just screams that the auditors have no
effing idea what they're doing.
