I found that CPY does just as good a job as CPYFRMSTMF for SAVFs - you just don't specify a member on the actual SAVF. And be sure to use *BINARY.

Vern,

Iso image, already had it loaded an image catalog, mounted.
Now, depending on the type of object, you need a different command to extract, correct.
CPYFRMSTMF for the savf.
CPY should work for everything else, or drag and drop.

5 of the savf copied ok.
But I have 7 savf that all failed with the same error.

CPYFRMSTMF FROMSTMF('/QOPT/CDROM/Y2SYCBL.SAVF') TOMBR('/QSYS.LIB/TEMP2E.LIB/Y2SYCBL.SAVF') MBROPT(*REPLACE)

CPDA082 Diagnostic 40 02/16/15 14:19:34.560727 QP0LCCMN QSYS *STMT FTPCA2E87 SYS 0035

supported by this command.

So just to confirm that it was not a problem with the iso, I used TAATOOL command RSTTAASTMF, which allows you to restore the library directly from the stmf.
This worked.

RSTTAASTMF DIR('/QOPT/CDROM') SAVLIB(Y2SYCBL) FROMSTMF('/Y2SYCBL.SAVF') RSTLIB(Z2SYCBL)
RSTTAASTMF completed normally with library Z2SYCBL restored.

This leads me to believe there could be a problem with CPYFRMSTMF.

By ISO do you mean an image or an actual disk?

If an image, load it in an image catalog and mount it - then you will see its contents under /QOPT

If it's a disk, put it in the drive, you will also see it in /QOPT.

Rob,

There was a readme.html, but it did not contain extraction instructions.
Using mapped drives I was able to copy everything non savf related to another folder on the IFS.

Ideally I would look for the readme.txt file and follow those instructions. May also be a readme.html or some such thing. You didn't say if any of the ", pdf, html, etc." were entitled anything like 'readme'.

If an upgrade (IBM or 3rd party) supplies a single iso, containing
savf, pdf, html, etc. what is the easiest and quickest way to extract
all elements from the iso.
Most vendors would include a LODRUN, but for those who do not.
For the savf, I've been using CPYFRMSTMF to extract the savf to a
library, then rstlib from the savf.

Thank You
