Glenn,

SNDPTFORD SF99711 CHKPTF *NO on 1/27, 4 hours.
SNDPTFORD SF99711 CHKPTF *YES on 1/30, 3 minutes.

IBM is recommending CHKPTF *YES or changing the default to *YES

More to come.

Paul

Subject: Re: SNDPTFORD SF99711 taking excessively long, unneeded secondary languages being downloaded, fixed by CHKPTF *NO to *YES

Paul,

When was the last time you ordered SF99711?
Presumably, the amount of PTFs to order is also dependant on how often it is performed.
I did a SNDPTFORD SF99711 CHKPTF *NO yesterday late afternoon and it took 2 hours and 15 minutes. I last did this 27 days earlier. We're on 7.1 TR9 C4283710.

I'd be curious what others are doing with respect to the CHKPTF parameter.
How many are using CHKPTF *YES or *NO?
Since the default is *NO, is it correct to assume it is the recommended method?
What are the pros and cons?

Yours truly,

SNDPTFORD SF99711 went from 5 to 10 minutes to 4 to 5 hours.
Problem was noticed on 12/2, after applying latest CUM 14283, TR9, all
latest groups, plus some additional PTFs on 11/18.

After weeks of frustration, I requested a duty manager on this PMR,
got to team lead.

Turns out CHKPTF , default of *NO has been broken for a long time
(years) and was fixed by PTF SI53598, which was on cumulative 14283
and has been superseded by SI54634, also on the same cumulative.
This also resolved the issue with unneeded secondary languages PTFs
being downloaded.
From now on SNDPTFORD CHKPTF *YES.

Development is still researching some backend end issues/changes.

Thank You
