James, you beat me to it. And thanks for the kind words!

What I would suggest is downloading MAILTOOL from
www.bvstools.com/mailtool.html. When you download you'll be sent temp keys
for MAILTOOL (the base product) and MAILTOOL Plus (which is built in and
just requires a separate key to activate).

Then, send a test mail with it to the person that is having the problem.
But, also specify the following extra parameters:

SENDWITH(*MAILTOOL)
MAILRTR(xx.xx.xx.xx)
USERTR(*ONLY)
DEBUG(*YES)

Replace "xx.xx.xx.xx" with the mail router you're using (which should be
the same as the mail router specified in CHGSMTPA).

If they get the mail, it very well could be the appending of the IBM i host
name onto the "from" address (which MAILTOOL won't do.. )

If they don't get the mail, then the extra host name probably isn't a
problem.

This will also create debug/trace files in the IFS in the /tmp directory
that you can use to at least "prove" that the email is making the hop from
your IBM i to your mail router. (after that it's really out of your hands).

As always, feel free to contact me offline for more help too.

What happens if you try sending the email out of Brad Stone's MAILTOOL?

What happens if you try sending the email out of Giovanni Perotti's MMAIL?

Both are suitable for calling from the command line, from a CL program, or
from a HLL program. MAILTOOL is generally recognized as the best product
out there, and Mr. Stone is the acknowledged expert on AS/400 email. MMAIL
is freeware, and while not as flexible as MAILTOOL, is certainly robust and
reliable.
