The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
You're comparing apples to oranges..
The original "file system" has been and always will be a database at heart.
Every single *PGM object is a DB stored procedure. And like every other
DB, there's a single level of schema's per database. You want multiple
schema's with the same name, create a separate DB. The i supports that.
You want a hierarchical storeage for stream files, then use the IFS.
That's why IBM added it.

The issue is NOT limited to databases. There are programs, commands,
software packages, files, screens, reports, a hundred other types of
entities spinning around on disk that are outside of the database.
