I did create a new 5250 session and changed from "Use System I Navigator default" to "Use default user ID and prompt as needed" and this stopped the error in the 5250 session. But the Excel ODBC connection still pops up with a password violation. I did find a place in its connection properties where I could uncheck "save password" but that has not helped.
