Place I used to work....we did a "forklift upgrade" of our
iSeries....don't even remember from and too models at this point :)

Anyway, with the old box, there was a rats nest of cables behind the
box, instead of under the raised floor...mostly because underneath the
rasied floor had years (decades?) worth of older cabling...

So when we disconnected the old box, I cleaned out a bunch of old
cabling before moving the new box in (that was a long night!)

Over the next couple of months...we lost 3 or 4 power supplies...

Interestingly, they were all in the networking switches (lucily dual
powered and we never lost two at the same time)....

About a year later (after leaving the company), I learned about zinc
wiskers and said "Ah Ha!"

Those microscopic particles are called zinc threads.  You can google that.
When we changed out our raised floor (tiles were peeling off) we lost 6
power supplies on our iSeries during that time.  Some IBM hardware guy on
the phone (never met him) asked me if we were changing out our floor.  I
was amazed he knew that.  Said it was the only other time he had heard of
such a thing.
