The DB2 for i will tend toward /correcting/ the Binary Coded Decimal
[BCD] data to the preferred positive or preferred negative [nibble]
value for the system; i.e. the preferred positive 0xF vs the preferred
positive 0xC as on IBM mainframes. Only /direct map/ can defeat that
tendency; as seen in the <SNIPped> example using FMTOPT(*NOCHK) of CPYF
which directly maps the character data across\into the DDS-defined zoned
decimal column. All of the nibbles 0xA to 0xF are valid sign nibbles in
both of the Zoned Decimal and Packed Decimal BCD representations on the i.
