The current system is a fairly large ERP, green screen application (the focus of this ultra-conservative financial organization has not been in keeping the i on the bleeding edge). Payroll, HR, Time and Labor, and some Financial/GL function is being replaced, top-to-bottom, with Peoplesoft on AIX. So it's still Power but not i. (Hence my skeptical attitude about the positive effect for our little group of conversion x86 -> Power).

The driver is dissatisfaction with the application (which, again, has not been kept up to date here); inability to support the changes in business; and a seemingly universal belief at the CEO level that i = archaic. I know, I know - but in the end, my job is to support the decisions of those in power. (Pun not intended.)

IBM won't announce numbers, but from my observations, the i

(referring to the OS and family here) footprint is fading, and has
been for
many, many years.

revenue and in footprints"

(How many here have been involved in the migration *to* the i
platform?
Personally, I've never heard of even one....)  And that's a shame; I
hope
my observation is incorrect.

We're developing an IBM i product for K-12 schools. We're interested in
serving students, parents, teachers, and administrators. We converted 1
school to our package this year, and will likely have 1 more by the end
of the year. I think the product will reach a point of critical mass as
at some point next year, in terms of functionality, and we hope to
convert a lot more.

My current job is to eliminate three more System i units from the
face
of the earth, and one more significant company irrevocably off of the
i
platform.

Would you be willing to elaborate? What applications are you migrating
to another platform? And what's driving it?
