get to an outside FTP site, you have to (1)connect to it by its correct
name, and (2) sign on in the format, "username@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx," where

whereupon it will then route you to that server.
Never heard of such a thing before. It sounds bizarre. But it seems to
work, at least manually. Now, I just need to write a modified
update-retriever.
