If the issue for a vendor is the program conversion issue, then you couldn't go to 6.1 either, right?

Of course, there can be other things specific to 7.1 - but the object conversion is the most obvious and is the same for 6.1 and for 7.1.

Absolutely. Only reasons to stop at IBM i 6.1 is if your hardware can't
go past it or your vendors aren't ready for 7.1 or you want to pay your
favorite IBM i Upgrade expert to do two upgrades instead of one.

I have done many of these and 7.1 is rock solid. The upgrades are very
smooth.

Go to 7.1 Go directly to 7.1 "Do not pass GO, do not collect $200." :-)

We are currently on v5r4 and thinking of skipping v6 and going right to 7.
