The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
You can use dedicated lpar's, or guested lpars. (I know nothing about
VIOS.)
Dedicated lpars allow you to work on one lpar while the other is down. But
they require much duplication of hardware!
Guesting drastically reduces hardware requirements.
Let's talk about a possible scenario. Let's say you have 8 disk drives.
You assign all of them to HOST. He handles all your RAID or mirroring or
whatever. Now you add GUEST1, GUEST2, GUEST3. They all used NWS spaces
(much like the old IXS cards). However, instead of each lpar having only
1 or 2 disk arms they are all sharing all 8 disk arms.
