I think the sarcasm is insisting on a command or telnet type interface to
your ERP system.

True Story:
Dekko corporate All Hands meeting. All non production people in large
area on shop floor. Video conferencing to other states/countries. VP of
IS gives status of upgrade from ancient version of our ERP system to
latest version of same system. One person (who probably hardly ever
touches it - finance(not accounting)) raises his hand and asks when we are
dumping the green screen and joining the 21st century. VP of IS states
that initially we are rolling out the green screen version and we will
work on the GUI later. Also that if you are heads down data entry that
you would definitely prefer the green screen version. No other discussion
occurs.

I know, we use EDI, we use scanners, we use other techniques. There's
still a lot of data entry which occurs. We don't do any B-to-C, and our
customers aren't asking for web interfaces for inquiries etc, so web input
isn't happening.
