There is a free - I think - or very inexpensive PRPQ or something called
Programmer Tools or Tools for Develoeprs - it includes a STRVNCSVR
(Start VNC Server) and lots of other goodies. Library is QAPTL. Look up
5799PTL iSeries Tools For Developers - http://tinyurl.com/2576vpu will
bring you to a page where you can then go to an FAQ and all that. It
used to be downloadable - might still me, according to this site.

So yes, Scott did get X server running on the i. If I remember correctly,
there was some other example that I thought was from Scott where he had an

Well, I stopped considering it when I read, under Features, "... the

client must be installed."  I am not administrator on the systems

that I

use, so haven't had opportunity to work with this.  But I'm fairly

certain

client is lacking on the standard i installation.

Brings up an interesting question.  Has anyone on this list

successfully

installed and exercised an X server on their System i?
