Sometimes during the restricted state backup Console gets blank or goes in
disconnected status . Its worth trying to reconnect the operations console.
If the signon does not come and it just shows that it is connected ( in
status bar) then you may try a SHIFT + ESC on console and then option 2 to
end any previous request submitted through console. This brings the sign on
.

But if system is in restricted state and the above method does not work then
i believe Manual IPL is the only option.
