Linux based thin clients would be the ideal solution. In particular, look
at IGEL's solutions... very, very good management capabilities along with
solid and stable clients.

Hi everyone,
I have a customer who is interested in replacing their multiple Windows
PCs with a low maintenance solution. They want to trial using linux,
either with a thin client (such as an X terminal) connecting to an
existing linux server or with individual machines running linux. They are
partial to thin clients for the low maintenance benefits, but other people
I have talked to think that individual machines all running linux would be
better. Could anyone with experience please give recommendations?

if you want to understand why that is, there are many good books on
the design of operating systems. please pass them along to redmond
when you're done reading them :)
