A few things.

One do you have the keys for i5/OS V5R4 (you won't need them for
V5R3 if you are going to upgrade from V5R3 to V5R4 within 70 days)? Does
the machine have a 17.5GB load source, and about 10GB of additional storage,
as you will need that much room for LIC expansion and new version of the os
(Doesn't include temporary image catalogues).

You will upgrade from V5r1 to V5R3 (make sure when you are on V5R3,
you put the one ptf that is required to not overflow the link loader before
adding additional PTFs at V5R3 (let me know if you need the number, I will
find it in my upgrade notes). Then, upgrade to V5R4M5 which uses i5/OS
V5R4. Make sure you increase the LIC areas before the upgrades.

Subject: OS400 Upgrade path

I have recently inherited responsibility for a 270 that is at OSV5R1. I
would like to move it to OSV5R4 as quickly as possible.

I would appreciate any thoughts/comments/suggestions that this group has
doing this.

TIA
