The Internal LTOs will scream compared to the QICs. Also what we are doing for those clients that don't need the LTO4 capacity is suggesting they use LTO3 media. It's half the cost of the LTO4 media and still has enough capacity for single tape full saves.

Christopher your suggestion of an LTO3 might not work. The current 520's (8203-E4A) do not support IOP's in the CPU chassis and to run an external LTO you either need and IOP or use a SAS interfaced drive and those only come in LTO4. Now if they are purchasing a 2/4 core and a 0595 expansion, then the IOP and tape card can go in the 0595...
