The cost *codes* are generic, not the *costs*. It's worked great in construction companies even before most were computerized.

Can't answer for him, but every system I've seen that allowed "generic"
costs has been useless. None of us are the type of companies that say
"We change $x. You don't want to pay $x for design? Sorry, we won't do
design" It's a flexible world, and we need the ability to vary our rates
by client, and even by project and date w/in a client.
