James,

what are you using to send emails? Have you checked the job logs for MSF
and SMTP?

Did it work fine before, and just stopped working? If so, my bet is on the
mail router. Check CHGSMTPA command to make sure Mail Router is set
properly (and that you can ping it and it resolves the proper IP addresS)
and that FIREWALL is set to *YES.

Then send a mail, run over your your email admin, and have him check logs.
It may be like pulling teeth, but it should be done (I've been through this
myself personally, and helped hundreds of customers with it).

If all else fails, my personal software can help track down the issue.
Contact me offline and I'll show you how. It's really easy and will give
you much more detailed information about what's going on with the email than
what IBM can provide (well, at least not as cryptic).

Subject: Customer box not sending email (again)

Situation on a customer box:

Supposedly, our application is sending an email.

QMSF and the SMTP jobs are all running.

The IFS file for the message appears and disappears, as expected.

Yet nothing seems to be going anywhere.

I tried killing and restarting QMSF (with MSGOPT *RESET); no change. The
joblog for one of the QMSF jobs shows a failure to find an IFS file with
the same naming convention we use for messages, but NOT one of the ones
we tried to send.

Any idea what could be throwing the outgoing messages into the bit-bucket?
