I guess some thing are still the same. I did a large number of new
installs on V1, and they all shipped with QBASE as the controlling
subsystem. Switching to QCTL was one of the first steps of the install.

Nope... new 525 comes with QBASE as controlling. At least the last couple
I
did were that way. It's a very minor change but since most folks
"upgrade",
they carry their setting with them on the upgrade, which includes QCTL as
the controlling subsystem.

You aren't likely to see somebody start with a basic install as it comes
out of the box.
