So they will ask me for a machine type, model and serial number (if they follow the usual pattern). All that stuff should point to the BCS and not the i Blade (the JS12) (I would guess)?

I used to pretty much have the machine type, model and serial number memorized for the i. Now I'll need a few more numbers! And, how did they manage to print the machine type and serial number so SMALL on the blade itself? You need a microscope to read it (at least to these old eyes). Thank goodness for packing slips!

Your current issue is not IBM i related. You either have a VIOS or AMM
Issue. So call in with a VIOS issue, they'll redirect you. No need to
mention IBM i, as that is as-of-yet still out of the picture.
