Keith,

Aha your clarification agrees with my memory - that the right side cover
does need to come off. I remember having to that but not why!

While heat can be an issue I have one customer with a 150 still running
happily with four 4GB drives in it for years - they keep it on the floor
in a nice cool computer room. It's used rarely for a few things when
their production system is down for backups etc.

Thanks so much for the help - does the cage include that 4th drive on
top, or do I pull out that vented grill in front with the ring attached?

No. Unfortunately, the 4th drive is a real pain to get at. Which is
part of the reason I don't have 4th drive installed (the other is
cooling concerns).

There's a ring up in front of the 4th drive bay. I don't have the front
panel off to see exactly, but IIRC, the ring holds the inner (metal)
drive bay cover. You'll need to remove the panel to extract the drive
out the front. To get the front panel off you'll also need to remove
right side panel to get at 2 of the front panel screws. My previous
reply (no) was inaccurate.

Cage removal also involves a slide latch near the bottom of the cage.
There's a screw on the front (metal) panel that needs to
loosened/removed such that lever can move to right (towards motherboard)
to free the 2 tabs. I'll send photo.
