Thanks, Larry - yeah, I found the little clips - tried it first on the blank denture at the top. I appreciate the caveat - I know I'm usually careful, but, you know...

I do have a link to a V5R1 "Installation and Service Library". System Builder for the 150 says --

"The #6713 is a Customer Install Feature on a Model 150 for an MES that only includes CIF features."

So there must have been printed instructions at one time.

As to the drives, there are 4 slots - numbered 4-1-2-3 from top down, I think. Current drive is in slot 1. Slots 1-3 are all alike - 2 have a foam-rubber insert right now. Slot 4 is different - is just below the tape and CD. Has a vented cover in front that has a ring attached - just begging to be pulled! So maybe that one mounts from the front.

The other 3 appear to be in some kind of cage - at least Dan thinks so. Is it something that swings out?

The SCSI cable is there for all 4 drives, as well as the power plugs. I suppose setting the jumpers is an address thing?

V5R2 is the last release supported on the 150 - Mark W. thought it'd be pretty slow - heh - but this is not for production - just my playground. Have not paid anything for it yet, other than a 2-1/2 to 3 hour round trip drive with my top down and a nice visit with old friends. And I do have the license keys.

Do I need to take the entire cover off? I have only the left one now - the left side as I look at the box from the front. Have not taken that other one off - the top-right one-piece.

Been a while since the Dr was inside a 150.

You're on track with the memory for sure but be careful. Be VERY careful
when you remove the dentures and insert the memory - those plastic clips
are not so solid and VERY brittle by now.

As I recall you have to set jumpers yourself as the drives and connect
them with a SCSI cable. As to mounting I seem to recall simple screws
through the frame but I've slept since then... I do believe the FC
#6713s are supported though with no protection or Mirror only. As to
V5R2... Hmmm. ...seem to recall V5R1 was last release for that thing
but.... Do you have keys for V5R2?

- DrFranken.

Subject
Modernizing a 150 - need some documentation

I know- that's an oxymoron - modern and 150 in the same sentence.

I have a 150 with the 1-6607 4GB drive and 64 MB main storage as 2-3182s.
I am getting 3-6713 *GB drives and 3-3110s to get 192MB main storage.

I see how to install the memory - I could use some pictorial instruction
on installing the drives - the single drive is scond from the top.

If this were a 170 or a 250, I have the link to this information.

Does someone have this in some form that I can see? Maybe a link - or we
can talk offlist.

Oh - will be putting V5R2 on it.

Thanks
Vern
