So, I asked here. The response convinced him.

Fair question. Another guy and I want to develop some web stuff (and
eventually be good enough at it to get paid for doing it. :) ) We have
midrange backgrounds and believe that RPG alone is not where we want to
be.

I was arguing that we could help smaller companies leverage their
midrange applications & staff by getting some of their midrange reports
onto an intranet web site, on their midrange machine. His position was
that the i5 is not a solution for web serving. So, I asked here. The
response convinced him.

We've been playing around with gwt & Eclipse.

Wow! What great responses! The Holy War here is stopped. :) Now ee
both are in the choir and on the same page in the hymnal.

Now all the other guy and I need to do is to find some organization that
wants a couple of capable midrange guys to put a up a simple web app on
their midrange machine as a learning experience for them and us.
