AND, there's folks like Gorilla, RPGsp, etc., that use the browser interface
for the presentation layer of existing RPG programs...you have to do some
tweeks to the screen/html but for the most part you save your investment in
your base code, database, etc...

Hi,

We are using the iSeries for our Internet Banking product:
Just finished another great Implementation with all kind of very nice new
features and starting with the next in line.
Why I? Simple:
- Fast.
- Secure.
- Easy to setup.
- Easy to maintain.
- Scalable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes we are not using WAS or other Java (or other scripting based
technology)(Sorry; slow, not secure enough, auditers do not like them (at
least not in banking)).
Webinstances are running under Appache by IBM.
Request are handled from CGI Post calls by only compiled objects.
All webpages are defined as external models and are maintained by 'standard'
PC based tools.

Our clients are very happy although quite a lot never had ever heard of an
iSeries.
Stable, resilient, secure, no problems with high loads, 'no' maintenance
'compared to their other machines'.
A 515 normally will do.

What other facts you want to know to compare to what you are 'hearing'????

Kind Regards,
Eduard Sluis.

I am hearing that the i5 is slow, setting up a server is difficult,
performance sucks, the security is not what we are used to, and its just
a whole lot easier to use an old PC.

would like us to take on?

Is the System i a reasonable way to offer an internal website that will
be displaying System i business data as web pages?
