I am in the process of porting stuff from a 520 to a 525. There are hundreds
of users. Somewhere along the way, somebody got the bright idea that there
needed to be a directory entry in WRKDIRE for every user, so when a user
profile was added, a directory entry was created. The young IT guy is
nervous, and he wants everything brought over "as is".

My question is this: Can I make a copy of the QAOK* physical files on the
520 and drop them into my library on the 525 and then perform a CPYF *ADD
into the files in QUSRSYS on the 525?

I used to do this back in the V2-V3 time-frame when I used Early Support Program systems way back in 1990. It worked fine for us and handled all the various QUSRSYS data files. I automated the process with a RSTUSRDTA command that handled either restoring the files directly (OK at same release and PTF level) or copying the data (with (*ADD *DROP) specified).

I don't want to hose anything up, nor do I want to key everything.

Use DSPDIR to build an outfile, then write some code (CL) to read the outfile and build an ADDDIRE command for the new system. I did this to synchronise DIRE between systems.

Simon Coulter.
