On both my Toshiba laptop and my leveno, the default setting on the
touch pad was to "Enable Tapping". When this setting was on, I
accidentially opened half the icons on my desktop was I clumsily fumbled
to learn the sensitivity of the new machines. When I turned that option
off, I had to click a button in order to click - I prefer that option.
My fat old fingers aren't quick enough to handle "Tapping".

I wasn't following the other thread so thanks for the subject change.
I'm not aware of any Windows setting to "auto-click", so I offer the
following:
1. This really belongs in PC Tech so any response after this, please
move the thread there.
2. If using the glide pad it's possible that it's sensitivity is too
high. If you use the buttons and don't tap the pad I'd suggest
disabling the tap-to-click function. Control Panel - Mouse to adjust
settings.
3. Also I'd suggest trying an external mouse to see if the problem
exists with it.
4. Dell/Alps does update touchpad drivers from time to time; maybe check
for newer drivers (even if the machine is new they often ship with
months-old drivers).

My wife's new dell laptop does the same thing. I suspect there's some
setting that if you mouse over a certain area and linger for x amount
of
nanoseconds then it assumes a click. Perhaps that will ring a bell
and
someone can respond in as to where to turn that off.
Really a bummer in Solitaire.

I thought about suggesting that the Subject: line be changed - but I
won't.
