Pete,

I would like to see it in Northern NJ, like Secaucus, near the Meadowlands . Easy access for locals, not too far from Newark Airport, close to NYC if someone chooses to go, plenty of hotels and convention space.

Yes, you are right they are close to the middle of the country, but I would
say that they are in the Eastern 1/3 of the country as well. So, I guess
that could even be more of advantage for everyone to attend the conference.

Baltimore was no more a problem than San Francisco. By the middle of the
week, the panhandlers figured out that I would say no, so they quit
bothering me.

Have you looked at a map? Nashville and Indy are close to the middle of the
country. :-))

Mike,

Some issues with some of those cities.

Baltimore had a major crime problem around the convention center and
I hope they don't return there.

Atlantic City, how close is the nearest real airport? Is it Newark
or Philly? That would be like a 100 taxi ride. Is Virginia Beach the same
thing, I don't know as I am not too familiar with the location.

How come you do not consider Nashville, Indy, Orlando, and Miami on
the east coast.

Pete

Hey, let's go back to last year's discussion on COMMON and conference
locations (I had raised the point of the east coast being ignored as a
location) and COMMON could dump the large tourist trap conference venues in
favor of the places who don't get as many and maybe get better pricing for
rooms. Baltimore, Philly, Atlantic City, Boston, Richmond, Cleveland,
Virginia Beach.

Since I don't attend COMMON conferences anymore, I have no skin in the game,
except to say this:

If the folks who select the venues don't like these little rip-offs, and
have no control over the hotel's charging them, all they have to do is
select a different venue that does not behave this way.

Later.

Paul,

Some time back I called the resort. The $10 is a resort fee, payable by
EVERY hotel guest, regardless of the conference or event you are attending.

This is not something that COMMON has been able to negotiate away, so you
should probably stop whining at COMMON, and go whine at the resort. Sure, it
is another way of the resort ripping you off, but it is not COMMON that is
in charge of that particular resort fee. They ~have! warned you, so you are
now aware of it.

If you want to take it up with the resort, do so. Or, consider it another
line item like TAX, and consider it buried.
