In theory, a 170 could outperform a 595, if the 595 is severely overtaxed.
However, I've tried machines more alike with the older machine having all
cables removed that would allow anyone to connect except a twinax
terminal. Be in restricted state. While the new machine is active, with
multiple users, and still had the newer machine outperform the older one.

Factors involved with performance are typically:
- Processor
- Memory
- Disk
and the utilization thereof.
iNav has some outstanding monitors that deal with these. I can put both
systems on the same monitor and see how they fare, graphically. This part
of iNav is free and does not require you purchase iSeries Access.

For basic processor information you can look at:
DSPSYSVAL QPRCFEAT
WRKHDWRSC *PRC
DSPSYSSTS <F21, 2=Intermediate> top left, % CPU used
WRKACTJOB, <F5>, place cursor on "CPU %", <F16=Resequence> This will NOT
show you the CPU used by "tasks" instead of "jobs". See iNav for that
information, or if you have money to blow, Performance Tools (5722-PT1)
provides somewhat less function with WRKSYSACT.

For basic memory information you can look at
WRKHDWRSC *PRC, see the MS* cards.
DSPSYSSTS and add up the pool sizes.

For disk information
WRKDSKSTS <F5> See the column on the far right.
