The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
If you are local, look for the PC box (or on the rack if it is rack
mounted) that is your HMC. I have the 1U rackmount. It may be some
distance from your keyboard. Especially if you are using a KVM, or if you
mounted the HMC at the very top of the rack and the keyboard at a more
ergonomic location. On mine, the type and Serial number are located by
the right screw holding it into the rack.
Really, if you are used to getting the type and serial number of an
iSeries off of the box, this isn't any harder.
Now, if you are remote, and IF the HMC is currently operational, then you
may wish to go to the screen on the HMC that displays the following:
Version: 7
Release: 3.1.0
Service Pack: 0
Build Level: 20070822.1
Build Version V7R3.1.0
Model Type:
Serial Number: 103404A
BIOS: T2139AUS
Additional Info:
MH1015: Required fix for HMC V7R3.1.0 (05-29-2007)
MH01030: Security fix for HMC V7R3.1.0 (08-22-2007)
MH01041: Required fix to support CSM release 1.6.0.12 (07-26-2007)
At least you can tell IBM the serial number. Blow them some grief that it
doesn't display the Model Type. I just noticed that and will open a PMR.
Also, you can open a pmr electronically on that at:
https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/set2/ssr/slprob
When you do so, this HMC should appear on the list of supported items.
This one appeared as a 7310 with a somewhat screwy serial number of
00-3404A.
